FOUNDERS OF THE BOTANIST & HER THIEVES

Introduce yourself and what you do (your day job) in a sentence!

Cherin is a full-time Creative Director at spatial design agency Laank. When not creating beautiful spaces, she is a part-time kitchen maestro to foodie buddies.

Cara is a Design Director / Headmistress at Asylum, she lends her eye for detail to product development, styling, and curation for The Botanist & Her Thieves.

Cheryl co-runs branding agency Bravo. When she’s not pimping-guarding-planning-flexing-crunching at work, she’s vegetating with her plants & opinionated furkid @helinoxcat.

Michelle is a Business Director at Asylum, a local multidisciplinary agency and beside wining and dining her clients, she is a plant mama to over 200 plants.

How did you girls meet & decide to start The Botanist & Her Thieves?

The Botanist And Her Thieves is a plant project started by 4 girlfriends from the creative industry who bonded over plant envy and plant cuttings. With a common love for putting thoughtfully designed products and plants into spaces, we are on a mission of creating & curating houseplant solutions such as plant care essentials, stylish pots & houseplant accessories for your growing plant collection.

Will you show us your plant collection(s)? Which is your favourite plant and why? / Which is the most exotic plant in your collection?

Cheryl: I guess one of my favourites is definitely the Anthurium Regale which i got in early 2018. When it first came from Ecuador, it was approx. 30cm tall and it took about a year to stabilize. Now it stands at 1.5m tall, so that’s definitely made me feel like its been a rewarding journey. That and its mesmerizing velvety, heart-shaped leaf and striking vein patterns.

Suggest a low-maintenance plant or two for beginners (who may not have green fingers) to start with on their plant journey!

Sansevierias! They’re a forgiving variety that’s got beautiful structural forms. Featured here is a Sansevieria Masoniana also known as Whale Fin, and Sansevieria Cylindrica.
