What does “Community” mean to you?
Community to me is the group of chosen people you surround yourself with. These are people who share the same values, interests and goals as you.
Share with us who’s a part of your community, and why is it important to you?
My family, friends, people I work with in the healthcare system and those I share my platform with. My family is my source of inspiration and motivation to keep going. My friends here and back home are my support system. My colleagues strive to give the best patient-centered care while sharing the same struggles and triumphs together. Lastly, the community I share my platform with gives me an outlet to showcase my journey as a doctor in New York City, while sharing my interests outside of the medicine world. It helps me feel balanced and well-rounded.
"You are a match for your mountain."
What’s one fond memory with your community that you cherish a lot?
Sharing my journey of struggles and successes with my community. I have received words of affirmation during the times I needed them the most. I may be oceans away from my family, friends and my social media audience, but technology makes distance a little lesser. I love my community.
