Jesrina Arshad
CO-FOUNDER, CEO OF PURELYB
Jesrina shares the first moments in her entrepreneurial journey with Purelyb.
What made you embark on this journey to start up a business?
It was always an aspiration of mine even early on in my career, every job I had I treated it like it was my company, my baby and would put my all into my work with constant sleepless nights. I knew one day though that I would channel all this energy and drive into my own business but it was a matter of finding the right idea that would hit me like a rare ‘aha’ moment!
But it wasn’t until the concept of PurelyB hit me in 2015, that I knew I had found my true passion and entrepreneurial calling in health & wellness in the startup tech world.

What inspired you to be in the wellness business?
I actually suffered from long-term health issues and food intolerances for years from my Iate teens to my late 20s. My body had developed intolerances to gluten, dairy, egg, wheat and shellfish! I wasn’t born with these allergies but my body was crying out for help.
The lack of awareness, accessibility and convenience surrounding healthy solutions and local healthy options and Traditional wellness remedies in Asia was a big problem. So together with my amazing all-women founding team, we created PurelyB to help make it easy, accessible & affordable for people in Asia to live healthy sustainably – the natural health way.
"Balancing people management, happy company culture with extremely fast-paced business growth in a lean team as a first-time entrepreneur was one of the biggest challenges I've faced, and continue to face!"

Any challenges and what keeps you going?
In the early years of running PurelyB, one of the biggest challenges I faced was trying to balance company culture, that family bond and happy environment for our team members with high business growth and targets especially as we started to take on venture capitalist funding and had to answer to a lot of investors and stakeholders.
