SAY HELLO TO OUR NEWCOMERS!
We promise it gets better and we’re here to make it easier.
I’m honestly very thankful that I didn’t experience morning sickness for both my pregnancies. I’ve heard stories where women can’t take in any food and were essentially living the first few months in the toilet.
My symptoms were different though, I felt so sleepy and lethargic all the time! Plus, I didn’t have much appetite in my first trimester so honestly, I just ate whatever I could stomach to get by - usually bland foods like plain white vermicelli or white bread.
I was so glad that there was still the option for flexible work arrangements then! When I could find time between meetings, I’ll sneak in cat naps.My advice is to trust that your body—it knows what it needs. Just go with the flow and listen to your body, you’ll be fine.
DID YOU FEEL THAT?
The first feeling of life moving inside you, a reminder that you're never alone.
FOR ME, THAT CAME MUCH LATER, AT AROUND WEEK 20...
I remember excitedly placing my husband palms on my belly so that he could feel the movements too! I actually empathise with men, as they can’t feel the growth of their child and are only able to experience it through their partner.
I didn’t experience much discomfort during the course of my pregnancy, at least not yet. Perhaps the two things that I found to be constantly challenging though, were finding the right clothes for my expanding body, and fighting off lethargy that comes with the additional growth and weight.
It can get frustrating at times seeing your entire wardrobe gradually not fit you anymore. Or, just experiencing very low energy levels when I was previously quite an energiser bunny. My way of navigating negative thoughts, is to remind myself to enjoy this journey and whatever it brings.
As the saying goes:"Nothing worth having comes easy."
