CO-FOUNDER OF WEBARRE
We kicked off September 2021 with a focus on connecting with our inner selves and expanding our minds, hearts and bodies. We focus on recentering ourselves through our body. Give it some TLC - be it rest or a self-pampering ritual. Read on how Anabel Chew, co-founder of WeBarre, finds her balance in life.
Introduce yourself and what you do in a sentence!
Hello! I’m Anabel, often known as the Co Founder of WeBarre, Asia’s leading Barre fitness studio!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the people that are around me, the people that I cross paths with regularly, even acquaintances and strangers. Everyone has an inspiring story to tell, if we are willing to listen.
"The pandemic has made us all stay home a lot more, but face-to-face social interactions are so important too, as well as being out in nature."

How do you take care of yourself?
Time is becoming a rare commodity these days, juggling working full-time, being a mother, a wife and many other things we have in this multi-hyphenated world we live in. My tip for myself has always been, “a little is better than none at all”.
If you can fit in 10mins to exercise, do it. You may not find a full 60mins, but moving 10mins is better than 0. You don’t need to book a spa day out to pamper yourself (although if you can, that’s great!), and instead, fit in little rituals that you can fit in, right from home. When you do partake in these activities, be FULLY PRESENT.
Other than working out, what other activities do you like to do to unwind?
Without sounding ‘lazy’, I loooove SLEEP and I prioritize getting sufficient rest each night. Sleep is how our body regenerates both physically and mentally and I think that when it comes to compromise on one aspect of our lives, many choose sleep. I am obsessed with sleeping well and can’t stress the importance of it.
How do you find the balance between work and leisure?
I am convinced now that having balance is impossible. Something has to give at any one time, and that’s ok! There are times I have to prioritize work, and other times where I prioritize being a mother. This is how I find I can give my most present self without having to “juggle” and focus on the task of not letting the ball drop. When you only have 1 ball to hold, it is a lot easier to focus, be present and do a great job at it.
What is one piece of life advice you have for our #LBCommunity?
The pandemic has made us all stay home a lot more, but face-to-face social interactions are so important too, as well as being out in nature. Whether is catching up with a good buddy for some quality time or to get out for some fresh air without your electronic devices - you may start noticing a lot of tiny details that you never used to!
